What time do we meet?
Our 4-hour fishing charters have two time slots – 8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm. Times may vary according to tides and weather.
Shark fishing charters and Charleston Harbor fishing charters start times are very flexible and are generally in the afternoon unless otherwise requested.
What happens if we have to cancel?
Port City Charters requires a $100 deposit on the day of booking and we also keep your card on file.
In the event you need to cancel your trip, we have a strict 48-hour cancellation policy. Any cancellation prior to the 48-hour window will be fully refunded back to the card on file.
Any cancellation inside the 48-hour window, including the day before, your deposit will be not be refunded and you will only pay the $100.
*However, any cancellation the day of the charter will result in a full-price charge of the charter unless there is a valid medical emergency.
What if it rains or there's bad weather?
We monitor the weather and winds very closely to ensure that is not only safe but comfortable for our clients.
We will generally make the final call the night before your charter and refund your deposit in the case of a cancellation.
Where does the guide pick us up?
Our pickup location is entirely based on where you’re staying.
We have a number of convenient pickup locations for your fishing charter such as Shem Creek, Charleston Resort and Marina (Patriots Point) Downtown Charleston, Folly Beach, and North Charleston.
Our goal is to make your charter as easy and enjoyable as possible. Just let the Captain know where you’re staying in the notes when booking and he will accommodate the closest pickup.
What can we expect to catch on our charter?
Depending on which charter you choose, you can expect to catch the following:

- Speckled Sea Trout
- Sheepshead
- Black Drum

- Tarpon

- Many more
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Yes, of course. If your catch is legal and within South Carolina State limits, you can keep your catch. We will even prepare it for you by filleting your fish and placing it in zip lock bags.
Mission To Kill? Book our reef fishing charters. There we hold no restrictions. If it’s legal and in limits, you can keep it and we will filet it for you.
No! Port City Charters has permits that allow any paid customer on our boat to be covered. We provide all of the licensing, bait and tackle you’ll need for your fishing charter.
The only thing you’ll need to bring along drinks, to put in our iced cooler, and a snack to eat!
Yes, we just ask that you don’t bring glass bottles and are of legal drinking age in South Carolina.
Our guides at Port City Charters all run 22 foot and larger bay boats.
We only run the latest & greatest boats to ensure a safe, comfortable and enjoyable fishing experience for your group.
Each boat is licensed to carry 6 people. However, we do offer multi-boat trips for larger groups.
When we have a large groups, we also offer to arrange mini fishing tournaments among your group – complete with trophies and award ceremonies!
As long as our schedule is open, you’re more than welcome to extend the length of your fishing charter.
We only charge $100/hr after the original charter’s time slot.
